About Me

Hello, this is Yao Lyu (Chinese: 吕尧; Pinyin: Lǚ Yáo). I am a PhD student in Human-Computer Interaction at Penn State IST. I'm working with my advisor Dr. John M. Carroll.

My research is primarily about Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Social Computing. I am particularly interested in human interactions with large-scale information systems, such as social media platforms, crisis response programs, and biometric systems. I interpret such interactions through lenses like Accessibility, Infrastructure, Crisis Informatics, Culture Influence, and Social Justice. My work has been published in CHI, iConference, and ASIS&T (please check my publications or projects for more details).

Please feel free to contact me for more information via email (yaolyu [at] psu.edu / lyuisyao [at] outlook.com), Linkedin, Twitter, or Facebook.
